What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. The brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of the body control these important functions. The skull protects the delicate tissue of the brain. The moving bones of the spine protect the vulnerable communication pathways of the spinal cord and nerve roots.
If the nervous system is impaired, it can cause malfunction of the tissues and the organs throughout the body. Doctors call this the vertebral subluxation complex. Vertebral, meaning the bones of the spine. Subluxation, meaning less than a total dislocation. And complex, meaning consisting of more than one part. Chiropractic is the science of locating improper spinal structures, the art of reducing their impact to the nervous system and the philosophy of all things natural.
We don’t believe that a technique has to be aggressive to be effective. Our gentle methods include

NetworkSpinal Analysis inspires us to trust the healing power within.” Deepak Chopra, M.D.
Dr. Bjorn is Part III certified in this world-renowned technique for spinal care, personal growth, and body-mind-spirit integration.
NetworkSpinal care, formerly known as NetworkSpinal Analysis, is an evidence-based approach to wellness and body awareness. Gentle precise touch to the spine cues the brain to create new, wellness-promoting strategies. Two unique healing waves develop that are associated with spontaneous release of spinal and life tensions, and the use of existing tension as fuel for spinal re-organization and enhanced wellness.
We combine clinical assessment of spinal refinements with our patients’ self-assessments of wellness and life changes. Greater self-awareness and conscious awakening of the relationships between the body, mind, emotion, and expression of the human spirit are realized through this popular healing work.

Teaming Up for Optimal Health with Corrective Care
Corrective care chiropractic is a completely different approach to achieving and maintaining optimal health. A true corrective care chiropractor will evaluate the central nervous system (CNS) and spinal function. You are evaluated not only for trauma and pathology, but more importantly, for function.
Since the CNS controls every single one of our cells, tissues and organs, we need it to function as close to 100% as possible. When we see a patient for the first time at our clinic, we always let them know there are two basic forms of chiropractic care. One is relief care, which controls your pain. Corrective care is the other, which correct structural abnormalities that cause pain. This approach is a more permanent change that you can think of like orthodontics for your spine.
What Sets Corrective Care Apart
Although all chiropractors are able to give relief care, corrective care doctors will search for the true cause of any health condition and design a specific plan of action for each patient. The corrective care adjustment and alignment process, (similar to what an orthodontist does to teeth to correct their alignment) in time, can often correct the spinal alignment, thus stopping or slowing down the degenerative decay in the spine.
This often requires several visits over a period of time. However, it will not require bracing the spine but instead giving very specific chiropractic adjustments to slow down the degeneration at the spinal level and improve nerve function. Corrective care can aid in building a healthy body and immune system by slowing down mechanical decay in the spine and helping the patient to function at an optimal level to maximize their overall health and quality of life.
What Is a Healthy Spine?
Is aligned. The body wants to be in a state of minimal energy expenditure. The optimal, natural alignment of the head and vertebrae (bones of the spinal column) allows the body’s weight to be carried by the proper structures (the bones and ligaments) instead of the muscles being asked to do the work. The chance of arthritis developing is greatly reduced. Alignment also allows for sufficient space for the nerves to flow, so the message system of the body can function at its best. This is vital for health.
Is soft. In a healthy spine, there is no unnecessary stored tension in spinal ligaments, muscles or nerves. There are no places that feel stuck, blocked or lifeless.
Breathes. The entire length of the spine from the occiput (head) to the sacrum (tailbone) is involved with each full breath. Each segment (vertebra) of the spinal column is free to “wiggle” or oscillate, and does so several times per minute with each breath. With a healthy spine, we are much more likely to choose postures, activities and behaviors that optimize this freedom. This brings us to the way a healthy spine…
Moves. The spinal column is made up of 27 movable segments. In a healthy spine, there are no fixations or restrictions in any of the spinal subsystems. The entire spine is involved in any movement such as reaching down or up, turning one’s head or bending to the side. Picture the freedom of movement that a snake or dolphin has (or your favorite dancer!). Growing older does not have to mean moving less.
Is self-correcting and can recover quickly from mishaps such as over exertion, falls, long car rides or desk work and the spinal tension that results from an emotionally trying day.
Is your natural state! A healthy spine is achievable at any age.
